Instructions for Wiping and Restoring a MacBook Air (mid 2012)
Getting to the Disk Utility App
- Power up
- Hold
Command + R
- Click “Disk Utility”
- Click “Continue”
Wiping MacBook Air
From “Disk Utility”…
- Click the main disk partition
- Select “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” from “Format”
- Input “HDD” or “OSX” in the “Name” field
- Click “Erase”
- Apple -> Shut Down
Restoring MacBook Air
From “Disk Utility”…
- File -> Open Disk Image
- Navigate to the image you would like to restore from
- The Disk Utility will scan the image
- Select the partition you would like to restore from
- Click “Restore”
- Drag the partition you would like to restore to into the “Destination” field
- Click “Restore”
- Apple -> Restart
Restoring from USB Drive
- Power up
- Hold C
